It was early Sunday. I was in Marylebone High Street waiting for the famers market to get going - what can I say, I live in a middle-class urban bubble, don't you know. With time to kill, I found myself in Le Pain Quotidien, a swanky, no ready arsey, bakery/cafe.I ordered a boiled egg and asked for a side order of toast.
I can't have toast.

I went to a JW Marriott hotel once and it was about five in the afternoon when I wanted a croissant from the pastry buffet since it was on the menu. The waiter said "oh we're sorry it's closed now" - "What do you mean it's closed, it doesn't say on the menu it's open till a certain hour and if I ask you for a croissant at 10 you should be able to produce one and bring it to me" - "Well we don't have any" - "We might have a problem then, if I pay £8 for a croissant and hot chocolate you're a bit obliged to give me a croissant at any hour of the day"
Angry people like us should be treated like royalty!

The only thing marginally more annoying than that is when you are in a shop and something costs say..... £9.12.
You hand the clerk a crisp £10 note and she types into the till 10.00 and presses the big cash button so the drawer full of money pops open and starts to count out your change.
At this point you stop her and say "oh don't worry, I have the 12p" and hand it to her.
It irritates the shit out of me when they refuse your 12p because "I've already typed 10.00 into the till".
SO WHAT?! Just take my 12p, give me back £1 and guess what? you'll still balance you moron!
